Membership in FMA provides students with the opportunity to develop key skills which companies now require. In today’s environment, most firms are expecting students to possess skills and insights which are not typically acquired in the classroom. These include:

  • Leadership
  • Business Acumen
  • Written and verbal communication
  • Project planning and management
  • Working across multiple business functions
  • Managing others

Students develop the above skills by joining FMA and working in one of the many leadership positions available. This gives students the opportunity to:

  • Develop and run events such as the Career Expo and Case Competition, thus improving leadership and project management skills.
  • Manage across multiple organizations by working with corporate sponsors in developing and running community service events, such as the Special Olympics, the Ronald McDonald House and Philabundance.
  • Work with companies to set-up and coordinate field trips to their locations.
  • Develop people management skills by managing a team of FMA members.

  • Attending the Corporate speaker series – weekly presentations by key finance industry executives.
  • Visiting key finance industry companies and meeting with their executives. Recent visits include Prudential Financial, Lincoln Financial Group, and Vanguard.
